Volunteers are the heart of the Foundation!
Without our wonderful volunteers, the success of this Foundation would not be possible. Our volunteers have helped us in both big and small ways, and we truly could not do it without these dedicated and creative individuals. Meet one of our volunteers: Brenda Herbert
The Caring Community Foundation recognizes and thanks Brenda for her many contributions towards supporting the Foundation's efforts. Brenda has been a part of the Caring Community Foundation team since the “Pay It Forward” event in 2007. In 2009, she met her “future husband” Pat while they were both volunteering at the PIF event. Pat and Brenda were married in November 2012 and are happy to continue volunteering together. In July 2012, Brenda became the Patient Request Liaison.
A few interesting facts about Brenda:
- Brenda loves to be able to approve patient requests as this is truly the heart of the Foundation. Brenda works as a Clinical Research Nurse at the NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences) in RTP.
- Brenda and Pat love “adventure vacations” including mountain biking and rappelling in Utah, skiing in Park City and sailing/snorkeling in St Lucia and Tortola.
- Brenda enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, camping, cycling, and rock climbing. She and Pat have 4 kids and a big dog!
"I was introduced to CCF through a neighbor who was looking for volunteers for the Pay It Forward event 2007. So far in my life, I have been blessed with good health. Many people are not so fortunate. I believe that “to whom much has been given, much is expected”….It only seems natural to want to “pay it forward”…..you just never know what life will bring….I love being a part of the CCF mission”--Brenda Herbert
